Josh McCown Quarterback for Hire Now

Josh McCown is a free agent now and will land on a new team soon.  Released by Lovie Smith's Tamp Bay Buccaneers, you have to wonder if coaches are looking at what McCown did last year in Tampa with a troubled offense or will they be looking at what he did for the Bears in 2013.

In 2014 at Tampa, McCown completed 184 passes on 327 attempts for 56.3% completion percentage and 2,206 yards with 11 touchdowns but 14 interceptions and a rating of 70.5.  He was sacked 36 times.

In 2013 as a backup to Jay Cutler,  McCown completed 149 passes on 224 attempts for much better 66.5% completion percentage and 1,829 yards with 13 touchdowns and only 1 interception and a rating of 109.   He was sacked 11 times.
Playing for a good Bears offense in 2013, McCown played extremely well.  Playing for a poor Tampa offense in 2014, McCown played very poor.  This year's draft is not being touted as a good quarterback year.  Teams will be looking for good backups on several teams and some may look at McCown as a possible starter.  McCown made about $5,000,000 last year.

For Tampa, McCown represents a year they'd like to forget.  For the Bears, he represents an offense the'd like to remember.  When McCown did play for the Bears, he made under a million dollars.  He'll probably be looking a bigger salary than that and chances are it will be easier for other teams to pay that.
