Pillars of NFL: Terry Bradshaw

Terry Bradshaw on Sports Illustrated
In Patrick McCaskey's Pillars of the NFL: Coaches Who Have Won Three or More Championships he covers the ten greatest NFL coaches of all-time.  Among the pillars is Chuck Noll who coached the Steelers to four Super Bowls and nine AFC Central Division Championships in 23 years as head coach.  In Pillars, we describe some of the key players  for these great coaches and we'd  thought we'd reproduce some of that for our posts.

Terry Bradshaw from Louisiana Tech was athletic and strong-armed—so much so that on sheer ability he eclipsed all rivals.  Bradshaw’s development would take time and patience.  While the media depicted Bradshaw as a slow country boy, Noll thought otherwise.  But Bradshaw’s development was slowed by criticism that he took to heart.  Noll remained confident in Bradshaw, but the coach could often be seen forcefully “instructing” the young man when he performed poorly.  Similar to other great quarterback-coach relationships, the Bradshaw-Noll tandem had its share of difficult times while producing Hall of Fame results.

Bradshaw led the Steelers to four Super Bowls.
