Pillars of the NFL: Good Read as the Playoffs Ready to Start

Pillars of the NFL
It might be good to read about the greatest coaches in NFL history as we are about to start the playoffs.  There are certainly a lot of good coaches around, but there are fewer great ones than you might expect.

There is one coach today who is among the great and his name is Bill Belichick.  Belichick has won three NFL Championships and therefore is among the most elite coaches like Lombardi, Halas, Lambeau, Noll, etc.  And Belichick is poised to make a run again at the Super Bowl this year.  It was ten years ago when Belichick's Patriots last won the Super Bowl.

Tom Coughlin is the only current coach who has been knocking on the door to three rings.  It's not going to happen to Coughlin this year!  His Giants are out of the running.

Last year, Mike Shanahan was fired as the head coach of the Washington Redskins.  Shanahan, like Coughlin, had two championship rings.  If  Shanahan is hired back, he would be back in the running for a third championship.

If you want to read about the truly great ones, Pillars of the NFL covers the top ten coaches in NFL history.
