Pillars of the NFL: Ed Sprinkle

In our Pillars of the NFL: Coaches Who Have Won Three or More Championships we cover the ten greatest NFL coaches of all-time.  Close to home, is George Halas, the father of the NFL and the Bears.  In Pillars, we also include a little on the coaches players and we'd  thought we'd reproduce some of that for our posts.

Ed Sprinkle was called by George Halas, “the greatest pass rusher I’ve ever seen.” He played right end and was left handed; this in addition to his quickness, speed off the ball, and his hyper aggressive play made him a difficult adversary for opponents.  Once called “the meanest man in football,” Sprinkle played defensive end for the Bears from 1944-1955.
